NICK WILSON:
Expert in
Yoga Therapy & Breath Work. International Heart of Yoga
Teacher Certification. Certification in courses of Yoga Therapy from
both the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarim & Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda in
Chennai, India.
Nick has been involved in the yoga process for over thirty years. His approach to yoga practice is based on the life's work of Prof T Krishnamacharya (1888-1989) who is widely regarded as the "father of modern yoga". He was the teacher of BKS Iyengar as a young man (1930s) who is now the most well known yoga teacher internationally. Also he taught Patthabi Jois as a teenager who is now famous for his "Astanga yoga". A woman named Indra Devi was amongst the first western students (late 1930s) who subsequently brought yoga practice to America. T Krishnamacharya's influence is felt throughout the yoga world albeit at times unknowingly. Krishnamacharya believed that yoga should be made accessible and relevant to anybody so that anyone with the desire can practice yoga. Accordingly yoga, in this approach, is adapted to the individual's requirements, needs and goals. Age, size, health and capability are no barrier at all. Nick has understood the yoga of the Professor through working and studying with his longest-term students; his son TKV Desikachar, author of "The Heart of Yoga" and his work at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarim where he took a course on Yoga Therapy; his ongoing studies with AG Mohan & his wife Indra, one of Krishnamacharya's closest students in the last two decades of his life and author of "Yoga for Body, Breath and Mind" & "Yoga Therapy"; also Nick has studied privately with Srivatsa Ramaswami a student of Krishnamacharya for 33 years & author of "Yoga for the Three Stages of Life" & "The Complete Book of Vinyasa Yoga". authentic and rational
What Nick offers is his understanding of the
yoga process according to Krishnamacharya as he has learnt it from
these world leading teachers. |
